ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 12 -- The U.S. Air Force issued the following press release:
National Guard officials are celebrating their 372nd birthday recognizing Dec. 13, 1636, when the Massachusetts Bay Colony divided its citizen-soldiers, or militia, into the North, South and East Regiments.
The Massachusetts Bay Colony was seven years old in 1636 when about 5,000 men, women and children made a two-month voyage to the New World and leaving the relative comfort and safet . . .
