BERKELEY, Calif., Sept. 6 -- James Madison University issued the following news release:
California used impressive accuracy, posting a .431 attack percentage, to defeat James Madison 3-0 in the opening match of the Golden Bear Invitational on Friday night at Haas Pavilion.
Cal (3-0) defeated JMU (2-3) by set scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-20. The Golden Bears entered the match ranked fifth nationally by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
