MACOMB, Ill., Jan. 9 -- Western Illinois University issued the following news release:
Western Illinois University senior linebacker Travis Cherry (Carol Stream, Ill.) has been awarded a sixth year of athletic eligibility by the NCAA.
The NCAA last week ruled to approve the waiver to extend Cherry's eligibility because of medical problems which forced him to miss two football seasons.
