FORT RILEY, Kan., Aug. 20 -- Fort Riley issued the following news release:
Sgt. 1st Class David J. Todd Jr., 36, died of wounds suffered Aug. 20 in Bala Morghab, Afghanistan, while conducting military patrol operations when he encountered small arms fire.
Todd was a cavalry scout serving on a Military Transition Team assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Marrero, La. He entered the Army in May 1991. He began serving with the 1st Inf. . . .
