FORT RILEY, Kan., July 2 -- Fort Riley issued the following news release:
Sgt. 1st Class Matthew L. Hilton, 37, died of wounds suffered June 26 near Forward Operating Base Shank, Afghanistan, when the vehicle he was traveling in struck an improvised explosive device and came under rocket propelled grenade and small arms fire.
Hilton was an Infantryman serving on a Military Transition Team assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Livonia, . . .
