FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Aug. 4 -- Western Illinois University issued the following news release:
Preseason camp officially opened for 87 Western Illinois University football players this week, and as the Leathernecks reported to campus for a series of orientation sessions Sunday they were greeted by head coach Don Patterson for their first official team meeting.
Patterson, who will miss fall camp and several games, recently began treatments for tonsillar cancer.
