AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 31 -- The University of Texas System issued the following news release:

University of Texas System Board of Regents' Chairman H. Scott Caven, Jr., and UT System Interim Chancellor Kenneth I. Shine issued the following statements today (Oct. 31) regarding Dr. Francisco Cigarroa's decision to step down as president of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio by August 31, 2009.
