DOVER, Del., Aug. 13 -- The University of Delaware issued the following news release:
Siemon Muller's passions were paleontology-he discovered an important fossilized Ichthyosaurus (an aquatic reptile) in Nevada-and stratigraphy, the study of rock layers. But unexpected twists and turns in his life and career led him to become an expert in permafrost science. He also is credited with coining the term "permafrost," meaning permanently or perennially frozen ground.
