LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 29 -- The University of Kentucky issued the following news release:
An historical marker will soon stand on Stoll Field to commemorate the place where the first football game in the Southern United States was played nearly 130 years ago. The field later played host to UK Wildcats Football until the completion of Commonwealth Stadium in the 1970s.
