WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 -- The U.S. Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Office issued the following news release:

Preliminary competitions to determine the Army's best vocalist are now underway at 47 installations, camps or forward operating bases across the globe- as the search for the Army's 2008 Rising Star is now underway.
