Rep. McCarthy Introduces Bill to Require Owner, Lawful Possessor to Report Theft, Loss of Firearms
WASHINGTON, July 22 -- Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (H.R. 5736) to "require the owner or lawful possessor of a firearm to report its theft or loss."
The bill was introduced on July 14 and has seven co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Reps. Robert Brady, D-Pa., Michael Doyle, D-Pa., Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., Steve Israel, D-N.Y., Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., and Allyson Schwartz, D-Pa.
The legislation was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Shuster Introduces Bill to Provide for Quick Process to Solicit, Assess Offshore Oil Cleanup Technologies
WASHINGTON, July 22 -- Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., has introduced legislation (H.R. 5727) to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to "provide for the establishment of a process for quickly and effectively soliciting, assessing, and deploying offshore oil and hazardous substance cleanup technologies."
The bill was introduced on July 13.
The legislation was referred to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Sen. Casey Introduces Bill to Allow Credit Against Income Tax for Certain Amounts Paid By Spouses of Armed Forces Members
WASHINGTON, July 22 -- Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa., has introduced legislation (S. 3582) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to "allow a credit against income tax for amounts paid by a spouse of a member of the Armed Forces for a new state license or certification required by reason of a permanent change in the duty station of such member to another state."
The bill was introduced on July 14 and has six co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., Roland Burris, D-Ill.
