ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- The U.S. Navy has been assigned a patent (9,395,177) developed by three co-inventors for an "evanescent field opto-mechanical phase shifter." The co-inventors are Marcel W. Pruessner, Chevy Chase, Maryland, Todd H. Stievater, Arlington, Virginia, and William S. Rabinovich, Silver Spring, Maryland.
