Uganda: Solidarity Conference Pledge 'Mere Fraction' of What's Needed

LONDON, June 26 -- Amnesty International issued the following news release:
Responding to the pledges of US$ 358.5m at last week's solidarity conference in Uganda, Amnesty International's Michelle Kagari, Deputy Hub Director for East Africa, Horn and Great Lakes Regional Office said:
"While welcome, this sum is a mere fraction of the two billion dollars urgently needed. Without sufficient funds, Uganda will not be able to provide life-saving assistance, protection . . .
