RALEIGH, N.C., April 26 -- The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources' Division of Parks and Recreation issued the following news release:
To further protect ecologically sensitive Bear Island, Hammocks Beach State Park plans to designate the island as a "trash-free" zone starting May 7, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
Trash receptacles will be removed from the 892-acre barrier island and visitors will be ask . . .
