SPARKS, Nev., April 26 -- The city of Sparks issued the following news release:
Today, by a vote of 3-2 (Salerno, Smith, Carrigan, YES / Ratti, Schmitt - NO) the Sparks City Council took action to balance the City's Fiscal Year (FY) 2010-11 budget which takes effect July 1. In order to address a $4.9 million shortfall, the City's workforce will be reduced by about 56 full-time positions. The action today includes approximately 48 employee layoffs.
