SILVER CITY, N.M., Sept. 17 -- Western New Mexico University issued the following news release:
At twenty-one years of age, Gilbert Grinie only had an eighth grade education and he was preparing to spend the next seven years in maximum security. A young life of gangs and trouble, Grinie seemed to always be headed in the wrong direction.
Nearly forty years later, the former gang member has written a book and is ready to open his own non-profit rehabilitation center. . . .
