TRENTON, N.J., Oct. 23 -- The New Jersey Assembly's Democrats issued the following news release:
Legislation that would increase New Jersey's compulsory school attendance to 18 years of age was released today by an Assembly committee.
State law requires students between the ages of six and 16 to regularly attend school. The bill would raise the top age from 16 to 18. Students who graduate high school before their 18th birthday would be exempt.
