MACOMB, Ill., Jan. 23 -- Western Illinois University issued the following news release:
Professor Virginia "Ginny" Boynton was named acting chair of the Western Illinois University history department, effective Jan. 2, according to Inessa Levi, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Boynton replaced Larry Balsamo, who retired in December 2007 following 40 years of service to Western. A national search will be conducted to fill the chair position.
