VOA NEWS: U.N. - LITERACY RATES NOT RISING FAST ENOUGH

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 -- The Voice of America issued the following story:

A new U.N. report warns that not enough progress is being made in raising literacy rates, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia. U.S. First Lady Laura Bush was at U.N. headquarters in New York Tuesday to spotlight the need for improved literacy, particularly among the world's women.
